Mahali Mzuri Safari Camp
Choose Mahali Mzuri for its combination of private conservancy wildlife viewing, contemporary luxury, personalised hospitality and intimate scale. With only 12 tents, the camp feels exclusive without losing the warmth and adventure of a traditional safari. Its elevated position also means wildlife can often be watched directly from the camp, whether from your private deck, the infinity pool or around the open firepit.
The overall atmosphere is stylish, adventurous and relaxed. Mahali Mzuri is particularly suited to couples, honeymooners, photographers and families looking for a luxury Masai Mara safari that combines remarkable wildlife with design, culture, conservation and a strong connection to the local Maasai community.
Mahali Mzuri
Set high above a beautiful valley within the private Olare Motorogi Conservancy, Mahali Mzuri is one of the most distinctive luxury safari camps in Kenya’s Greater Masai Mara ecosystem. Part of Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Limited Edition collection, the camp has just 12 luxury tented suites, creating an intimate safari experience surrounded by open plains and exceptional wildlife. Its location along the route of the Great Migration makes it particularly exciting during migration season, while excellent resident wildlife provides rewarding game viewing throughout the year.
Luxury Tented Suites & Family Accommodation
Mahali Mzuri offers two main accommodation styles: Luxury Tented Suites and a dedicated Family Tented Suite. The spacious tents feature king-size or twin beds, comfortable lounge areas, en-suite bathrooms with walk-in showers and freestanding bathtubs, and generous private viewing decks overlooking the wilderness. The family tent provides additional space with both king and twin beds and two en-suite bathrooms, making the camp an excellent choice for a luxury family safari in the Masai Mara.
A Fresh New Look
Mahali Mzuri reopened in June 2025 following its first full interior refurbishment, giving the camp a sophisticated new look while retaining its unmistakable connection to Maasai culture and the surrounding landscape. The redesign introduces floor-to-ceiling glass windows, natural materials, earthy tones, contemporary African artwork and vibrant accents inspired by traditional Maasai colours and beadwork. Local East African artists and craftspeople feature prominently throughout the interiors, giving the refreshed camp a strong sense of place.
Private Conservancy Safari Experiences
Staying inside the Olare Motorogi Conservancy gives guests access to a quieter and more exclusive style of safari. Twice-daily game drives explore an area renowned for lions, elephants, cheetahs, giraffes and more than 300 bird species, while night game drives reveal nocturnal wildlife rarely encountered during the day. Guests can also join guided bush walks with Maasai warrior guides, learning about animal tracks, plants and traditional knowledge of the landscape.
Other experiences include hot-air balloon safaris, bush breakfasts and dinners, sundowners, Maasai community visits, traditional stargazing experiences and visits to The Maa Trust. Back at camp, guests can relax beside the 12-metre heated infinity pool overlooking the plains or enjoy a treatment at Nasaro Spa, tucked away near the valley floor.
